1. Will the stairlift have to be fixed to the wall?
A. No, the stairlift rail brackets are simply screwed down to a few of your stair treads
2. How long do they take to install?
A. It takes between two and four hours on average, depending on the complexity of the installation.
3. Will there be any mess?
A. None at all. All of our engineers tidy up after themselves
4. What is the maximum weight limit?
A. This depends on make on model but most stairlifts as standard are rated at 115kg (18 ½ st) with some being rated at 160kg (25 ½ st)
5. What happens in a power cut?
A. In the unlikely event of a power cut, a modern day battery lift will continue to operate as normal for around twelve trips without power, giving you complete peace of mind
6. How much does a stairlift cost?
A. Our stairlifts start from around £1000 depending on the stair configuration and subject to a full survey
7. Is there a warranty with the equipment?
A. All of our stairlifts and scooters come with a 12 month parts and labour warranty as standard
8. How soon can a stairlift be fitted?
A. Most of our standard straight stairlifts can be fitted within a week and in some cases, the very next day!
9. Im looking for a scooter but with so many to choose from, which one is right for me?
A. At central Mobility, we only deal with main manufacturers with a proven record. This ensures that any product you buy from us will have the support and back-up that you require for the life of the product. As for finding the right one for you, we will happily come out and visit you where we can show you the many different options available and help you make an informed decision
10. How far will a scooter travel between charges?
A. This depends on the weight and size of scooter you choose, but you can expect to travel between 11 and 35 miles between charges. We will take these things into account when we offer you our recommendation so that you receive the correct product most suitable for your requirements.
11. How fast do they go?
A. Our scooters are capable of either 4mph, 6mph or 8mph depending on the size of scooter selected and battery size.
12. Can they be used on the road?
A. Yes, our class 3 8mph scooters are completely road legal and come as standard with lights, indicators and horn. Our everyday scooters also have some of these features but are restricted to the pavements due to the lower speeds.
13. How often should they be charged?
A. Every time it is used. The modern scooter has intelligent software that determines automatically how much charge is needed for optimum performance and turns itself off when this level is reached. This way it is impossible to over-charge them and is very economical
14. Do you deliver?
A. Yes, we will happily deliver any equipment to you and give you a full and in depth demonstration on the safe and proper way to use it
15. What happens if I get a fault?
A. All of our equipment comes with a 24 hr technical support number clearly displayed on it. Our engineers will also make sure that you are aware of this when they carry out your demonstration
16. We are looking for a riser / recliner chair but are worried it wont match the rest of our furniture?
A. At central Mobility we use only the finest manufacturers and can also provide you with 'static' chairs to match your riser / recline and even setee's! All of our furniture is British and hand made to your exact requirements. We can also provide quotes for custom built items or 'one offs' at your request
17. Is it safe to use a bathlift controller near water?
A. Absolutely. Our range of products operate on low voltage rechargeable batteries and are completely water proof and safe.
18. Can we try before we buy?
A. Yes, our showroom is fully functional and has all the equipment set out for you to look at and use. We can then assess you correctly and advise you on the products size requirements
19. Do you buy back unwanted equipment?
A. Yes, depending on make, model and age, we will make you a trade offer where possible
20. Do I have to pay V.A.T.?
A. No, if an item is purposely designed for mobility or you are registered disabled, then it is VAT exempt. This requires a simple VAT exemption form completing which we can provide. However, certain items such as pill crushers and magnifiers are not exempt.
